5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard Internet log information and visitor behavior information. When you visit our websites, we may collect information from you automatically through cookies or similar technology. For further information, visit allaboutcookies.org. Folia has implemented a layered opt-in consent structure to ensure proper notice is given and informed consent is obtained. By default, all ad signals are denied.

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Maintain authentication sessions to keep you signed into your account
  • Store consent preferences to ensure we comply with the consent you have granted.
  • Analyze usage to understand how Users interact with our website and software.
  • Measure advertising performance to understand effectiveness of ad campaigns

Examples of such cookies include:

  • _ga (Google Analytics)
  • _fbp / _fbc (Meta advertising cookies)

Your Choices & Control Over Cookies

  • You can accept or decline non-essential cookies via our consent banner
  • You can change preferences at any time through the “Cookie Preferences” link

Cookie Consent Banner (Opt-In)

All Users, on their first visit, are presented with a banner at the bottom of the screen disclosing that Folia uses analytics and advertising cookies. Users must affirmatively click "Accept All" before any ad pixel cookies or analytics cookies fire. If a user clicks "Decline," only strictly necessary cookies (authentication session, consent preference) are set. Consent preference is stored in a first-party cookie (folia_consent_v1, 1-year expiry).

GTM Consent Mode v2

Google's Consent Mode v2 is implemented via GTM. Upon page loading, all ad signals default to “denied”, including ad & analytics storage, user data, and personalization. If a user has previously accepted, ad signals are updated to “granted” when the page loads. GTM tags for Google Ads, Meta Pixel, and Reddit Pixel are all gated on ad_storage consent which means they will not fire or activate without it.
